Happy Groundhog Day lovelies!
Spring is just six weeks away and if the winter blues are fading your skin’s glow, today’s post will put you on the road to skin nirvana in no time! I have combination skin, but as I have gotten older, I have found the winters are harsher on my skin, leaving me with dry patches and an oily T-zone. This year I pumped my regiment into high gear because I turned 35. I have been more mindful about supplementing my skin with collagen, peptides, and other skin loving ingredients to stay hydrated throughout the brutal winter months. What follows is a multi-step regimen that seems like a lot, but pays off big time!
After cleansing my skin, I pat a nickel-sized amount of Tatcha’s Plumping Skin Softener all over my skin. This product is a water essence designed to prep skin for moisturizer; the consistency is watery, but this magic liquid contains concentrated micronutrients that provide deep hydration. This is my HOLY GRAIL! Keep in mind, a little goes a long way, and it makes any product that follows perform 150% better.
Once my skin has absorbed the skin softener (usually within two minutes) I apply a customized serum. I mix Philosophy’s When Hope is not Enough Facial Firming Serum with a scoop full of Turbo Booster C Powder, also by Philosophy. I am a big fan of Philosophy products, the brand itself has biomedical roots, and their skin care products are science-based. When Hope is not Enough Serum is great for the winter months because it contains peptides and glutathione which are firming agents. As we get older, we lose the collagen that keeps our skin firm, peptides return lost firmness to the skin. The Turbo Booster C powder is a brightening agent, and over time this concentrated formula brightens complexion and evens out skin tone resulting in a light from within glow!
Last, but not least, I apply Sheer Transformation Perfecting Crème by Ole Henriksen. This moisturizer is oil-free and jam-packed with vitamins and multi-fruit acids which over time help with resurfacing skin cells and producing brighter skin. The finish on this moisturizer is natural despite its brightening properties. It’s a perfect priming moisturizer.
I started this regimen in October and have been able to get through this blistery winter and my 35th trip around the sun without a dry patch, new fine lines, or added wrinkles. Not bad! I hope it can do one or all of the above for you!
