The Fractured and The Brilliant!

There are times in my life when I feel as though every one of my roles as a woman needs my full, undivided attention… at the same time.  For the past few years, the first two weeks in September have been THAT TIME for me!  This year in particular was jam packed with important dates, celebrations, deadlines and milestones.  I had my 12th wedding anniversary, my daughter’s sixth birthday and my son’s first day of middle school in the same week.  In addition, I’m a Higher Ed Administrator and the 6th of September was also the first day of school and the beginning of a new fiscal year for me, so to say that these two weeks had too much happening at once is an understatement.

But at last that is life! In the true spirit of why I started fractured brilliance, I thought I would share  with you how I juggled the various brilliant roles of my life over these two weeks and how I made it work:

The wife :  Sept 5th- 12th wedding anniversary

This year my hubby and I decided to keep our wedding anniversary celebrations low key because we will also be celebrating our 20th anniversary as a couple later this fall.  Since that is a biggie and happens in October, we decided dinner and drinks will do on 9/5.

The Mom: September 6th -Scarlett turns 6

Scarlett is in a superhero stage and this year she requested a wonder woman cape and themed cake and lots of bouncing fun.  September 6 is of course the day after labor day, the first day of school for almost everyone and a Tuesday so our usual big party is out of the question. So we had an impromptu celebration featuring DIY wonder woman decorations because wonder woman hasn’t ventured into the party decoration business.

September 8th– First day of School

Since my oldest is now in middle school my kids go to different schools.  Thankfully the drop offs are an hour apart! So, on the first day of school, I dropped off my boy in the new school first and then ran home to get my little girl ready for first grade.

September 11th– Masquerade Sweet 16

our family had a black and white masquerade sweet sixteen to attend which meant that I had to shop for masks and black/white outfits and corresponding masks for four!!  Thanks to the fact that Halloween costumes are on shelves everywhere I was able to buy masks at the local Halloween shop and had my husband bedazzle and add glitter to the stock masks.

The Blogger: The missed Fashion Diary

Throughout these two weeks I tried to carve out time to take my pics for the fashion diary and when other aspects of my life took over, it left the blogger in me giving the rest of the roles in my life the “side eye”!  I totally forgot to account for the fact that as summer comes to an end, so do the days where there is photography worthy sunlight until 8 pm AND on the days I beat sundown and was able to get a shot I could work with, it was photo bombed by Scarlett! So no fashion diary for the week!

And here we are! it is mid September and somehow, most things got done, the kids are settling into the school year nicely, my hubby is happy and all my roles are in harmony again. As I reflect on the last two weeks, I am reminded that we can accomplish anything we set our minds to do and that the Universe, Life and God don’t ever give us more to do that it knows we can handle!

Today is Sunday and as you know Sundays are my reset days; next week I am going to give the blogger in me a tad bit more time, come see me next week for some fall fashion updates and my curly hair routine!  But really, whatever comes my way next week, I know I can handle! Until next week!

Stay brilliant my friends!
