Bad Moms on date night!

Happy Tuesday fractured beauties!

Sunday night, my husband and I spontaneously decided to go on a date in preparation for the week ahead and before the official end of the week.  I had been trying to sneak “Bad Moms” into our movie rotation but with the premieres of Dory and The Secret Life of Pets this summer, my family was making that highly unlikely.  Not to mention, that I couldn’t bring the kids along to watch this movie.  So when my mom agreed to babysit Sunday night, I ran to the closest theatre showing the movie and it did not disappoint!

Bad Moms was hilarious AND humorously accurate.  The perfect movie for Moms to watch as they gear up to begin another academic year filled with insane mornings that begin way too early and in my case have me practicing ALL of the leadership principles I have mastered by 8 am! The movie was a friendly reminder that:

  • We don’t have to do everything by ourselves
  • It’s OK to say NO at times
  • It’s OK to have ME time
  • Sometimes you really do have to BE the change you want to see in the world (or in your kid’s school)!
  • On any given day, most of us are not Perfect Moms or have it all figured out!

I also really loved how the movie spoke to ALL moms: the working mom, the stay at home mom, the PTA mom, single moms etc.  The struggle is real for all moms! And it’s the most rewarding experience.

Equally as brilliant, was the idea of making it a date night and bringing my husband along. Somehow, despite being very supportive at home and helpful with the kids, the movie illustrated the day to day challenges of being a MOM in a way I could never explain in my own words.

Here is my hubby’s 2 sentence review (verbatim):

It was funny, not super funny but funny enough and sooo true…so true! Do y’all drink that much? I don’t see why they would be called bad moms though, they all seemed like good moms. Y’all struggle too much!

Hope everyone’s week has gotten off to a great start!

Much love,

fractured brilliance
