Summer Makeup Routine

My makeup routine is a bit more strategic and dare I even say, minimalist during the blistering hot summer months.  I generally prefer a natural look when it comes to makeup and during the summer I switch over to lighter formulas that give me a clean look and lets my skin breathe.  I also pare down my routine to 6 products, most of which are multi-task products.  I normally do my makeup in the morning and don’t reapply throughout the day unless I sneak in a mid day workout session (which doesn’t happen as often as it needs to) and I freshen up post workout.   So here is my routine:

For a flawless complexion

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel in Spice – I absolutely LOVE this tinted moisturizer! It offers medium buildable coverage, its oil-free AND hydrating, a miracle for my combination skin.  The finish is luminous not dewy and the spf is 30.  I use this in place of my moisturizer, right after I apply my serum.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger – This has been the ONLY concealer to rival my working mommy under eye circles.  Concealer is the one product I won’t leave home without, this one in particular has a built in brightener and provides medium to full coverage.  The finish on this concealer is lovely, it’s a natural finish that blends seamlessly into my skin.

Nars Blush in Orgasm–  Cult classic! This blush is the perfect mix of peach and gold tones.  It gives my skin the most natural flush of color that reflects beautifully in the sun or light.

For defined eyes

Bare Minerals Big and Bright Eyeliner in Navy – I have the most sensitive eyes, so I am really selective about the eye products I use. This one has a smooth, silky application and the formula is very gentle, this liner never makes me tear.  Right now I am loving it in navy and charcoal.

Laura Gellar Highlighter in French Vanilla – I use this highlighter to set my concealer, as an eye shadow and to highlight the inner corner of my eyes.  It has a brightening effect, reflects light beautifully but has no shimmer.  Perfect for daytime looks.

MAC Studio Chromagraphic Pencil in NC 25 – I try not to wear mascara everyday, instead, I line my lower lash line with this liner in a flattering shade of nude and immediately my eyes look wide awake (even if I’m not!)

For a nude lip

ELF Beautifully Bare Lipstick in Touch of Blush– The best thing I could do for my face with $5.  This lipstick has great color payoff and feels moisturizing on the lips.  It is a fairly neutral lip color and I often start the day with this color and as my day progresses, I adjust my lip color accordingly.  I am usually wearing MAC’s Rubywoo by noon!

So what’s in your makeup bag?
